This digital font and its name are inspired by the Hermann grid, which is an optical illusion of a white on a black grid that in which “ghost-like” grey blobs are perceived to emerge from the intersections of the grid. When viewed at a distance, the blobs appear; when focused on an intersection, in particular, the blobs fade away.
The basis of the typeface is a grid I created using circles and rectangles. Everything you see on this website is created entirely with HTML & CSS. Aside from showcasing the font, the website starts off with one of my favorite quotes by Charles Dickens, "an idea, like a ghost, must be spoken to a little before it will explain itself."
